Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL) recently announced a feasibility study into the construction of a state-of-the-art ammonium nitrate manufacturing plant on Kooragang Island, Newcastle.

As part of the feasibility study, IPL has selected Tecnicas Reunidas (TR) to undertake a front end engineering design (FEED) study.

IPL has chosen TR for its “know how” and technology in relation to ammonium nitrate and nitric acid, licensed by its 100% subsidiary company ESPINDESA.

TR is one of the leading international engineering and construction companies for oil and gas production, refining and petrochemicals and power generation projects.

The feasibility study is expected to be concluded in the fourth quarter of calendar 2012.

In keeping with the Company’s commitment to consultation and cooperation, community members and stakeholders will be involved throughout the feasibility process. No decision has been made to proceed with construction of the plant, which will only proceed on meeting IPL’s strict financial hurdles, firm customer commitments and regulatory approvals.
